Titan Gilroy Visits YCM to Explore Its Integrated Machine Tool Manufacturing Process

Titan Gilroy, founder of TITANS of CNC, recently visited YCM's headquarters for a close look at the company’s foundry, spindle production, component machining, and assembly operations. The factory tour highlights how YCM combines in-house manufacturing, standardized assembly practices, and smart production management to support machine stability, rigidity, and long-term reliability.

Founded by Titan Gilroy, TITANS of CNC is a CNC education and manufacturing content platform that shares practical knowledge through online courses, hands-on projects, and video content.

The visit follows the manufacturing process from casting and critical component machining to spindle production, testing, machine assembly, and smart manufacturing applications. It also demonstrates that the performance of a YCM machine is not determined by a single component, but by coordinated control across the entire manufacturing process.

In-House Casting Builds the Structural Foundation
Machine performance begins with the structure.
YCM operates its own foundry and manages key casting processes internally, including pattern and sand mold preparation, material formulation, melting and pouring, heat treatment, finishing, protective coating, and natural aging.
After heat treatment and finishing, the castings undergo a natural aging process to support further structural stabilization. By combining accumulated foundry expertise with controlled manufacturing processes, YCM continues to improve casting quality and structural stability—the foundation for machining accuracy and dependable long-term operation.

In-House Spindle Manufacturing and Critical Component Machining
In addition to its in-house casting capabilities, YCM manufactures and tests its own spindles and machines most critical components internally, providing greater control over the processes that directly influence machine performance.
Each spindle undergoes hundreds of tool-clamping and unclamping cycles to verify operational stability and reliability. Hand scraping remains an important part of YCM’s machine assembly process. Standards are defined for contact points per unit area and scraping depth to support repeatable results.
This controlled approach helps ensure proper contact between mating surfaces, effective lubrication, and assembly accuracy across different machine models.
By combining skilled craftsmanship with documented procedures and quality standards, YCM turns a traditional technique into a repeatable and controlled manufacturing process.
